When I wrote that New England was the last region I hadn’t really visited, that was true. But it was also true that Louisiana was the last of the states in the Continental US I hadn’t been to, and that my visits to a couple of other Deep South states had been cursory. This trip – with a swing north to NY and then back south before heading home – was a chance to rectify that.
